2 oz butter (4 tbs)
Directions
For the filling:
In a sauce pan mix water and sugar and heat over high heat to obtain a golden-brown caramel.
Add 4 tbs butter and cook over low heat until mixture is smooth (about 2 minutes).
Pour into pie dish (12-inch dish).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel and cut apples into quarters or smaller pieces.
Place apples over caramel.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Prepare the crust:
Melt butter in a large bowl (you can use your microwave up to 20 seconds) and mix it with flour, salt and egg.
Mix them until you get a pastry (If needed, add one or two tbs of water) so that you can spread with a rolling pin to obtain a
a circular pastry about the size of your pie dish.
Take the pie dish out of the oven and sprinkle additional sugar on apples (3-4 tbs).
Place pastry into pie dish over apples and seal edges if possible.
Bake for 30 additional minutes at 350F.
Let stand until warm (10 minutes) and turn upside down on flat dish.
Serve warm along with French vanilla ice cream.
